Never post anything (on line) or put up signs that you wouldn't want a jury to be shown.

Very true! I have read posts of committing acts of trespassing, theft and property damage that could give them problems later.

Yep. I remember from law school, that putting a "BAD DOG" sign in your yard is an admission that you know your dog is vicious, and if it ever attacks someone your goose is probably cooked.

This is the kitchen pump in my grandparents house.

I probably mentioned it before, but their house is a log house underneath the siding.

Grew up with a pump like that. Here they are called a Pitcher Pump.

None of the relatives had pumps because the spring was always at a higher elevation letting gravity do it's thing...

My brother has deeded spring water rights to a spring about 2 miles away that is gravity piped to the house... the land was originally part of the ranch way back but the spring water rights remain in the deed... much to the consternation of the present owners... offers have been made to buy the rights but why in California would anyone give up water rights they are actively using?

We had one like that, but it didn't work. Had to bring our water in from the pump in the back yard...located about 30 foot from the privy...and didn't think a thing about it at the time.

Is it possible our immune systems were more durable then out of necessity?

:laughing::laughing: I wouldn't be a bit surprised. Got our priming water from the creek the cattle drank out of; took a bath once a week whether we needed it or not; washed our hands occasionally; walked and played in the barnyard, chicken house; drank milk not pasturized and sometimes straight from the teat; ate all kinds of wild game; Dad hung rabbits from the ceiling of the back porch in the Winter; rode in the same car, lived in the same house with cigarette smoke; and most kids I knew went barefoot in the Summer.

Funny you should mention it, but there is a school of thought that completely supports what you said...we're "too clean" to build up our immune systems.
