Got our priming water from the creek the cattle drank out of; took a bath once a week whether we needed it or not; washed our hands occasionally; walked and played in the barnyard, chicken house; drank milk not pasturized and sometimes straight from the teat; ate all kinds of wild game; Dad hung rabbits from the ceiling of the back porch in the Winter; rode in the same car, lived in the same house with cigarette smoke; and most kids I knew went barefoot in the Summer.
Funny you should mention it, but there is a school of thought that completely supports what you said...we're "too clean" to build up our immune systems.
