This attachment worked well cutting the undercut bank off leaving a slope. Putting the bucket down and forcing it in like you would a shovel I was able to cut and lift out chunks so big it was all the PT could handle. One of those things that works as good or better than you think it will.

I've forced my small bucket with teeth down like that as far as it will go, then curled it up. It makes nice ditches that way.

Yes and I have also noticed (and i am sure you have to) that the curl will have better pry out in the float position if you need it.

How thick is the plate that fatigued and tore out ?

Great job all around! I am puzzled though why you are using a backhoe instead of a loader bucket?

Also, just a suggestion, cut a path into the pond with a shallow slope to make exit from the pond easier for both vehicles. The path could be filled-in after the work is completed.

The plate torn out was 1/4 inch metal
I do use the loader bucket sometimes. There are 2 problems with the loader bucket though. One my machine will not lift high enough to load it in the toro. Two the mud is sticky and hard to slap out of the bucket. When I do use the bucket I have to build a ramp. I have thought about building a slope but that is another job. I may yet but the back hoe is doing a great job and the toro carries out much more dirt.

Bringing this thread back to the top...

I had a similar failure with my right lift arm on the 425 yesterday. It appears to have been a stress crack that began at the sharp corner of the cutout for the hydraulic control body. Rather than just the bracket cracking loose, like Stray's did, the section of 1/4" plate that it is welded to cracked and ripped. I also have stress cracks at the bottom of the bracket that need repaired.

The other side which appears to be butt-welded to the side plate also cracked at the weld, after beginning to rip about 3/4" from the side. The lift cylinder bent the section of 1/4" plate and started curling it upward, snapping the elbow where one Aux PTO hose connects...

Now to find someone who can weld it back and repair it....

Putting this out there as a "heads up" to keep an eye on this area for stress cracks... especially if you work your machine hard (aka use/abuse) like some of us do...
