Well, I turned the key this AM to move hay for our first snow. Nada. I guess one of my Junior Operators lest all the lights on... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Obviously he needs further instruction. But, is there a good way to move the light circuit over to the key on side of things? I have seen two position fuse holders on cars that let you choose, I am sure it's not that easy.

The other option is a battery buddy. But I haven't seen those, lately....

I am curious about this myself, is there a reason Deere made the lights operable with the key off? I can understand having the hazard flashers rigged to work with no key, but why the lights also?

My Kubota allows the same thing. In fact, so does every automobile I've ever owned. I'm not sure why you would find this odd.

Hello Shoppers, there is a white Honda Civic in the parking lot with it's lights on!

My New Holland TC 24D turns the lights off when the key it turned off. Flashers keep going, it's a safety thing I guess.

My NH has flashers but not head lights when 'ignition' key is off.

Is easy to move. First.. Isolate the light circuit..( find the light switch wires.. and whatever relay they activate.. etc ) next get a 12v relay.. ( normall open... just like a little automotive relay for adding fog lamps). run power from the switched side of the ignition to the headlight switch, then to the relay ( then to ground reference.).. You will then route your headlight power thru that relay, rather than whatever other HD switch or relay where it normally was.

Now, you will have to have the ignition on to run your lights.

Good point you made there !!

What I meant was, I find it odd on a tractor. My old JD 318 needs the key switch on for the lights to work. Ditto my even older Ford Jubilee....

The Civic isn't mine, I never forget to shut my lights off. But misplace my keys, well I am famous for doing that.

The lights running thru your ignition switch on that jubilee isn't a good idea.. unless you either have it on a relay, or the ignition switch has been replaced by a switch that can handle the current draw. The oem style ignition switch wasn't rated for that draw.. and many a farmer has been stranded by an 'open' ignition switch due to the lights on that circuit.

Thanks for the heads up, but the NAA is fitted with a relay.

My 990 kills all the lights including the flashers when the key is off.

I wish my F-150 killed the cigarette lighters when the the key was out.

Same with my 855. Nothing works with the ignition switch off.
