Bird, you make a very good point about the use of the flood when you're working on the equipment and not on the job at hand. They're very different applications and the flood is by far the best then. But when you're on the tractor looking at the job behind you, the floods get in your eyes too much. So, optimally, it would be nice to have both and turn the flood on when you get off the tractor and back off when you start to work. Failing that, you can move the trap so it's pointing down at the back of the tractor when you hooking up or whatever, then back up again when you start to work.

Of course, you guys realize that I'm using the term 'work' in the paragraph above to refer to "the job you're there to do". The real work of course, in the sense of what takes the most effort is when you're off the tractor hooking up or unhooking and all that stuff... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Very good point, Mark, and I agree. I just don't really expect to be doing any work where I need the light to the rear while I'm working. I only expect to need it when I'm off the tractor (I don't play in the snow; on the rare occasions that it happens, I sit inside and watch it out the window)/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. The particular lights that I bought at Northern Tool all looked alike and cost the same, but came in trapezoidal, flood, and spot.

They're the very same ones I had on my L3600GST. Before that, I had the Kubota floods, which taught me how badly they flare back into your eyes. I did like the fact that the Kubota models had their own built in switches on them, though. I haven't seen any traps like that, but I'd like to before I spring for them. I haven't gotten around to putting them on the L4310HST yet. And now that everyone's trying to talk me into upgrading to an L4610HST, I just don't know what to do! /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Mark,
My New Holland dealer has the lights with the switch on them, I think they are New Holland brand, not sure. I do remember that they were comparable in price to Quality Farm & Fleet and TSC. JimBinMI

Mark,
Working on memory here but I believe that he had the traps, price was around $35. Color.........I think they were kind of plain looking so they couldn't have been blue /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif seems like they were black or chrome? Next time I go, probably to buy mine, I can let you know better info. JimBinMI

Has anyone cosidered mounting the headlights on the roof or rollbar, it gives a longer beam and eliminates the need 4 extra worklights too!!

OK Ya'll, a little different direction here...I'm still looking for a tractor, but have been reading all the posts on lighting and its been pretty interisting...But I have one question with all that bright white light around how do you keep the SKEETERS OFF YA!!!! I know that Bird and the others out in Texas can hear'em coming for at least 1/4 mile/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.But here in Bama some of them are still small enough to sneak attack..! Maybe I could try yellow lenses....../w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Really though can buggs be a problem on summer nights?Them skeeters can be real pain here even without any lights around.....

You really are right. Up in the middle of the summer, I usually don't have a big problem with mosquitos; too dry maybe, but right now they will eat you alive if you don't use an insect repellent.
