Help.

Numerous posts on this topic talk about a pigtail under the seat. I have a TC24D and I don't see the pigtail that eveyone is referencing. There is a plug beside the right tailight that the dealer plugged a rear worklight into but no pigtail. Am I overlooking the pigtail or did it get replaced by the single plug that I'm already using?

Can't say that I ever did much automotive wiring, so I'm not sure where to start if the forementioned plug is awol. I imagine wiring off the battery is much easier than taping into the existing wires.

Thanks.

The wire that he plugged the work light into is the pigtail everyone is talking about. It is hot anytime the switch is hot. I hooked my front and rear lights to it each with its own switch. Might have to redo them though because I want to lights facing front and that'll overload the 10A fuse NH fused it with. My big head gets in the way with it mounted in the center so I'll guess I'll have to run another wire back and wire in a relay. I was trying to be lazy and avoid doing that.

Kip . . . as was already mentioned by Jim, the pigtail people refer to under the seat is actually located at the base of the ROPS on the TC24D and your dealer already used it for the AUX light. That pigtail is NOT switched and is always hot. The AUX light should have its own switch on the top.

If you are looking to wire up some additonal lights, you will have to run new wires. The positive wire needs to go to a power source, the negative wire would be grounded on any part of the frame of the tractor. An easy place to draw power from on the TC24D is located on the left side of the engine at the alternator stub. It is easy to find. Simply lift the hood, then take the left exterior engine panel off. Walk up to the front of the tractor and you can easily trace the power wire from the batter back to a bolt on the left side of the engine. That is your alternator stub, and you can connect up to that point for an easy access to power. It is always hot, so you can use lights when the tractor is off. If you want to have your lights tied to the key, then you'll need to tap into your fuse box or into your light switch. As you said you never did much automotive wiring, you might want to go the easy route.

Kip just be sure that wherever you do decide to tap in, that the circuit is properly fused at the front of the tractor. You can always add your own fuse if need be. The fuse will protect the entire length of wire. Without a fuse you stand the chance of a fire down the road.

I like the looks of your canopy on your tractor. Who makes these and what aprox. price. Also how much higher does this make your clearance at to of roll bar. And can you still fold the roll bar down.

NAPA distributes this brand of light along with Truck-Lite Brand.

BeeFarmer do an eBay search for "snow plow lights" in quotes. There is a dealer selling them new, in the Signal Stat box with switch and wiring. About 88 bucks a set.

MMILLER my fiberglass canopy is made by Firebird Fiberglass. It added about 3 inches to the height of my ROPS. I do not fold my ROPS down with the canopy, it's not practical to do so. It is permanently bolted in the up position. You can order them from most dealers, you can see them here click here

MMiller,
I believe his canopy is the same as mine and it is made by "Firebird". I believe that mine was around $400 installed.
It does add a little height, I am unsure of exact number but I suspect it is only a few inches.
You will still be able to fold your ROPS but folding it, it will just point your canopy up into the air.
