Loader Lightweight pallet forks for 200X & 200CX loader

Got my Chris Perry Lightweight JDQA forks finished and painted yesterday, and I've already scuffed them up.

Here's a few photos. You will note there are no closeups of my weld beads. That's a 600 lb Buck fireplace insert on the pallet. The little 3032E easily picked it up. These forks sure are going to make life easier around here. We just got a new football-watching TV (55" Vizio LED/LCD), and I need to deliver our old 200 lb 51" Sony projection TV over to our neighbor's house (we gave it to them for their grandkids to use for games). The forks will make that easy, since all I have to do is strap it on a pallet and drive up the road with it. Delivering that beast would have been a project without these forks.

Good job on the engineering and the excellent welding instructions, Chris. I really like these forks, especially compared to some of the 300+ pound competition I've seen out there! I especially like the completely unobstructed vision during use. Makes things much easier and safer.

Awesome, Picker! Thanks much for circling back. Great photos. Keep them coming. I really like the yellow knobs, nice touch!

"Lightweight" and "SSQA"... wow, that's an oxymoron for sure! :)

Now we just need a SSQA version. :)

Thanks for the mention jcims. I haven't given SSQA mounting a lot of thought because there already seems to be a huge commodity market for skid steer attachments. Maybe I haven't looked enough. Also, like Picker so eloquently and delicately mentions,, I have to wonder how much of a demand there is for a "race car" version of pallet forks for machines otherwise most commonly associated with brute labor. Again, maybe I am misconceived.

Not misconceived at all, the market is substantially more crowded on the skidsteer/SSQA side. I just like that they are actually engineered and not just a cubic foot of steel stuck together. With the Kioti/Bobcat line of CUTs, they actually have some use, as the smaller models only have 800-1200lbs of lift capacity.

I wish I could say I could throw down the cash on the first purchase, but I done tapped the well dry for this season. Lord willing I'll be here next year though, and if you ever decide to put together, it's definitely on the short list.

Nah, it's only in Wyoming that the men are men and the sheep are scared.

Oh, the saga continues. In an effort to be "hands-on with my project," I thought that it would be great to weld the upper and lower ATV frames on my self, at a friends 100+ miles away, because my fabulous Lincoln 125 is just too small. When I ordered from Chris, I expected to save $50-$100 on SHIPPING, plus painting costs, etc.

After stitch welding ( fabulous welds BTW), and attempted mounting of the forks, they didn't line up. Chris called me at home at we determined that ATV sent miss-matching upper and lower rails for the included forks ON Chris' frame structure.

I emailed ATV and to their credit (Bill) they sent me a new lower, unpainted rail at no cost. I was happy until I realized that the replacement rail was 2 " shorter than the original
and the cut-out for the bottoms of the forks was 2x. Now not only was I lugging heavy steel back and forth more than 100 miles, but now the center cut-out was more than 2x the first and the inner most upper FL pin notches are within the cut out. Plus, I have to build-out the replacement bottom rail. All this work, time, effort and gasoline and more caused me to ask ATV for a partial refund to help finance fixing the problem. Bill at ATV was very helpful and did refund as requested, within 24 hrs. I can't complain about their help and partial refund when I asked. However, after plasma torch cutting and
grinding for hours, I should have asked for more $, to compensate so many hours and grinder disposables to fix their error, since they messed up originally.

Here are the Golden Rules of buying a Chris Perry JD Fork Lift Frame:
(1) DO NOT Worry about Chris's Frame, workmanship or honesty. I'd buy from him
again in a heart beat!

(2) Order the entire unit with fork lift components welded and attached by Chris, so that he can weed-out errant parts. like I received. The added shipping costs are well worth it.

(3) IF YOU order the rails/forks from ATV make SURE on ordering, that "ATV" understands
that you are ordering for a Chris Perry, John Deere Front End Loader Fork Lift. VERIFY this before accepting shipment. Both rails must be of equal length 46"-48", a width of 1/2 thick.
No paint and the bottom rail beveled.

More pics to follow next week after MORE frame prep and hole repair. These pics DO NOT
give a true view of the cutting, grinding, hours involved. In retrospect, my "honest and fair guy" refund request from ATV was low, but they refunded as requested. Very fair ppl (Bill)
at ATV, just make sure your order is Spec'ed to Chris Perry's John Deere Frame before accepting delivery. If ATV thinks it fair to refund more $, based upon all the issues here,
then I will think much higher of them.

I received a very apologetic e-mail from ATV today, as well as the new tracking number for a new 1/2' bottom rail at their expense. Even though this will cost me time, money for a 1/4 additional plate, ATV has been very helpful in resolving my issue and I can't complain about that. My suggestion to ALL, ordering the rails and forks from ATV is to Clearly specify that they are for Chris Perry's frames and are to be 1/2" upper and lower.

Also, it is very important to note that Chris had absolutely nothing to do with this mess, but he has been more than helpful in calling me at home, diagnosing the problem and offering to help fix the problem. I would buy from Chris again without any worry.

The only other "odd" issue I had with ATV's parts is that the forks are unpainted and have slight surface rust. Yet the rails, which are to welded have this cheap, gummy, greasy, black paint that smears more than it sands or grinds off.

Attached are pics, from hours of cutting and grinding last night. (90% done which I will tackle next week.
regards,
Steve
