LIME SPREADER FOR FOOD PLOTS

Wow...nice spreader HJC! Not too many in that condition. FWIW my EZ Flow's have a very similar beater in the hoppers. I had a few small rocks mixed in with my lime. Seems they find a "home" between the beaters until the hopper gets empty.....at which time I pick em (or pry em) out of the box. So far I have not broke anything. (fingers crossed)

I contemplated a screen too....but wonder with wet ag-lime, if the material will pass through a screen when loaded via my front end loader....kinda doubt it. I lifted my loader high and kinda dribbled the material into the hopper as I watched for rocks. Seemed to work ok. Spotted a few and that ended my issue with them. Small rocks are a non-event....but softball+ sized rocks get my attention, and I fear could wreck stuff.

Ag lime is supposed to be screened and not have any rocks. But I think mine was stored on the ground and they dug too deep in the pile when loading. As Rosanne Rossanna Dana sez....it's always sumptin!

Here are some pictures. The flat "chopper" is above the space between the holes, and the fan shaped "distributor" is directly over the holes. Metal is about 1/8" thick. Hope that helps.

Sent pm about this spreader!!!!

Do you still have the spreader? Thanks

I restored a John Deere LF 8' and just don't need it anymore. I never used it so if anyone needs one in perfect, like new shape, let me know. It is in S.C. I went overboard restoring it. I don't think you will find a nicer one.

Harold,

I live in Columbia, SC and have been looking for a drop spreader. Do you still have yours and would you have an interest in selling it?

Thanks,

Tripp

HCJ, that was a good looking unit. I did about the same as you, waaaaay overboard on the restore. Did find several parts still available at the Deere store. Didn't have to sandblast, the paint was still intact. Had to repair some rust damage to the bottom of the hopper. This was an LF-10, and was almost 12' wide. Came in on a trailer, went out towed behind my 1020. Unbeknownst to me, there are a couple of trees in our driveway that are just under 12'. Had to take down a section of fence to get it out. Never got to use it. Only got $800.00 for it.
