Linear actuator

I have hydraulic chute rotation, but would like to be able to adjust the deflector on the fly, too. Would a linear actuator work reliably as a chute deflector adjustment mechanism?

For something like a chute deflector, I see no reason it wouldn't.

+1 on it should work. Some of those and get pretty pricey though. Plus, you need to run the wire so it doesn't get tangled or chaffed.

I put a linear actuator on my 52 in snowblower 5 or 6 years ago. Works great. I used a 4 pin trailer plug male and female, because it was weathertight rubber and easy to take apart in spring to take snowblower off tractor. I ran the wiring thru a rubber garden hose from tractor to actuator on chute. So it was stiff and easy to weave where I wanted but not too stiff to give with up down motions. I think it can be seen in the attached old pic.

I used a linear actuator on the deflector and a small motor for rotation. Sold the blower. It was no good for parking lots and the plow is much faster.

A linear actuator will work reliably well as a chute deflector.
I have one on my 3039R but they can get pricey.

If you go that route, make sure the linear actuator shaft is facing down. That will minimize shaft freeze up from accumulating moisture and wet snow.l

Had an actuator on my Case 446, worked well.

I installed one on my 72" blower. It works well but I wish it was a bit faster.
