Ooh a Rokon. I always wanted one of those. And a Husky Automatic from the same era. I like the weird stuff, which is why I had Maicos. In fact my wife still calls any unusual vehicle I evoke an interest in (i.e. Saab two stroke) a "Maico".

1991 Dodge Dakota
1993 Dodge Dakota (I didn't learn my lesson the first time)
What lesson needed to be learned? I've had 2 Dakotas (an '88 and my current '02) and I thought they were great trucks. OK, the third generation ones weren't so hot, but you still see lots of 2nd gen ('96-04) on the road.

I'd be hard pressed to name a better mid-sized/small truck, at least from my experience.

I thought they were complete junk. I couldn't stay out of the repair shop. My '91, which I bought with 28K miles was literally getting new u-joints every month... and they weren't covered by the 70,000 mile power train warranty. I finally started changing them myself and realised they were so tiny that the grease wasn't getting to them. Shocks were another wear item which I replaced frequently; they would wear bushings out in no time. I took the front spyder gears out of both trucks at least once; the only time that's ever happened to me. (The '91 was less than 300 miles off the power train warranty, but they wouldn't cover that either.) Rear wheel ABS was one of the most dangerous things I've ever driven; after a couple of near death experiences on minimal snow, I learned to run in 4wd so that the front wheels would also stop the rears. That's just a few things I hated about them... poor gas mileage, no power...

Some great lists of cars and bikes!

I keep thinking of some I forgot to put on my original list.

Huh. The two I've had were very dependable, hardly needed any work at all, and almost none beside routine maintenance until well over 150k. Don't think I've ever replaced U-joints in either one of them.
I agree that the 3.9 V6 that was in the '88 was a bit underpowered. My '02 has the 4.7 and it's adequate for anything I need.

The worst maintenance headache I had was the '07 turdra I had for a company truck at my last job. What a POS. It spent almost as much time at the shop as it did on the road. Glad I wasn't the one paying for all that work. I was the "new guy" so I got stuck with the truck no one else wanted. :poop:

It takes good technique and confidence to kick start a big bore two stroke in tennis shoes (the Husky video). I used to show off by doing that until I made a mistake. I didn't break anything but my foot hurt for weeks.

I'll include on my list just the vehicles I have owned, licensed and used "on the road". I've had several others which were sold before I ever got them running.

???? Mini Morris
1964 Plymouth Savoy
1960's Dodge Polara Station Wagon

A friend of mine was talking about how difficult his old 441 BSA single was to kick start a while back.

On a cold morning I use to put a couple pieces of charcoal in a pan and slide it under my Triumph.
