I don't want you to "give", I just want you to understand that there is no real "off-the-shelf" solution to what you want.

As far as augers, I can't really help there-I just know the hydraulic part of this discussion. But it is regularly discussed here on TBN. I would try searching for terms like:
PHD
auger
clay

And if you need more advice, try posting your question in the "attachments" forum, it will get more views that here.

now worries kennyd, I'd actually forgotten that my original post wan't about the auger itself. I've searched a lot, and want to search some more before I ask a question that someone has already asked.
