My Dad planted many acres of beans and corn together (was on the cover of Farm magazine back in the day). The irrigation lines were set on 60' between sets (3" aluminum pipes with sprinklers every 40'). The risers the sprinklers were on are only 24" tall, so he planted 20' of beans and 40' of corn alternating so he could water. Only farmer in the Columbia Basin (central Washington state) that grew corn under sprinklers in the 1950s. He had a late 40s or early 50s Farmall Super H or M that he did everything with.
