I know this thread is getting up in age, but I wanted to step in and provide feedback--and hopefully get some feedback as well.
I am a tech at a kubota dealer, and we see a Kommander or two in the shop for belts. Almost always belt issues, seldom other issues. Now, one reason we see them more often than other brands is because there are so many of them sold. They are everywhere you look.
Anyway...each one I see/inspect/repair is different. In other words, every case is different than the other. The #1 cause of belt issues here is sweet gum balls getting jammed into one of the pulleys, which causes the belt to be thrown off. Have also seen wood, gravel rocks, pine cones, trash bags, and a bunch of other things get jammed in and cause the belt to come off. But on others, we saw no cut & dried cause of failure-and this is why I wanted to get feedback from others as to what you've found. Are we missing something? On the ones that don't have an obvious defect, we inspect them closely and most of the time do not see any issue, and as one would expect, we're under time constraints in that customers don't want to wait, so we have no choice but to throw another belt on it and let it go. I hate that because I know in the back of my mind that I did not identify the cause and because of that, it's not fixed.
So if any of you have any feedback, I'm all ears. I want to take care of those who choose to spend the extra money on Kubota-and the dealer I work for, but at this point I'm out of ideas outside the obvious.
