I made a gun rack for my son's ATV to hold a BB gun. We don't allow him to have the BB's in it yet but he now rides around our property with authority! He puts on his camo clothes and rides around with the BB gun like he is Rambo.

Now that is cool. Teaching the boy proper use of the gun will give him years of shooting pleasure.

My father let me have bb's early on, but not before he knew I was able to handle it. then we got the single shot 22, man that was cool. I now have those guns in my gun cabinet, memories of a time more simple, full of fun, and dad.

Man I would love one more quail hunt with him!

Way to go !!!!!!!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I just love it when parents start them out young.
My daughter had her first honda mini trail with a BB gun at 6 yrs. old too.
Now at 23 she packs a S&W 642 with her & Im not worried.
But you still have to keep an eye out for them !

Danny and Ernie,
Thanks for the kind words. My wife learned to shoot a 22 rifle when she was a kid. Now that she's an adult she knows how to safely handle a gun and she is a great shot. She now has a CCW permit and packs a 40 cal. once in a while. I agree that teaching them at a young age is the way to go. Learning responsibility and that actions have consequences are important life lessons.

Dan, funny you say that. Dad and I were moving some stuff rom teh gun cabinet last night to the gun safe in the garage and I found a plastic bag with a bunch of pins in it from when you shoot a deer and check it in and they give you a pin. We use to put them on the sunvisor of the 84 F-150 that we fixed up and it literally was "our truck." Anyway we haven't deerhunter for several years, we quail hunt like crazy and fish all the time together but we stopped deer hunting. After seeing all those pins, thinking of the truck (the proccess and the fun involved) and renebering all the deer we brought in we both decided we'd order permits next year.
