Tires Loaded Front Tires Resist Tipping?

Dwight, I'd have to disagree. I have 5 suitcase weights with no FEL and when using a heavy 3pt implement (like a rotary cuttter) especially going up or up and accross a slope, often feel there is very little weight on the front end. That's why I'm specifically considering loading the front tires.

I know it is tire size specific, but I was wondering what amount of weight is actually added by filling the front tires. Henro, you said you have yours filled with foam. Do you know what the added weight is for both front and back?

My fronts are solid filled too.. I remember at the dealer it took 2 of us to load the tires into my car. My guess would be 150lbs or more per front tire on my TC35D.

Henro,
Just to cause some more head pain for us all...... Will foam filled front tires make a tractor more likely to roll ? My thought is that the foam will "give" less than air filled and could cause the up hill front wheel to raise up more on a bump than if the tire were air filled, thus raising the center of gravity higher and more downhill...

Whatcha think ? I am not talking about a large change here now, just a change......

Poppa,

I think on my B2910 the foam added about 70 lbs per front tire. I don't remember for sure.

I can tell you that they were quite a bit heavier when I brought them home. Really much heavier...

As for the backs...I totally forget now how much WW fluid I put in each...so I have no idea what weight was added...I want to say about 180 lbs per tire...but I really don't remember... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Here is a page on tire loading at Tractorsmart.com if you want to take a look.

I never thought about it but if those numbers were correct, that would mean I added about 500 lbs, or about 25% more weight to my tractor, almost all of it below the natural center of gravity of the base unit.

Can't say it makes me feel any more comfortable when sideways on a 20 degree slope though. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

One camp might say no, because of the axle pivot being there.

I sort of feel like you do. A soft tire would bounce less...so should be better at speed.

Now the slower we go, the less difference it makes I suppose.

Personally, I go real slow when on a cross slope...turtles probably could pass me...without breaking a sweat... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
