Loaded Tire Valve Stem Failure

BotaBigot, are you saying that you replaced the valve stem from the outside of the wheel. I always thought that the tire had to be broken from the rim and a new stem inserted from the inside. If I can do this from the outside of the wheel I will certainly try to make the repair myself.

I thought if you have ca cl in tires, you SHOULD have tubes??

There's a kit to do this...but too expensive @ $40-$50+ for number of times would be used...rod attached to cap threads then force thru funnel to compress rubber...

First let me say tire should be broken down...it's easy to damage new stem trying to install. I used very dull screwdriver so as to not damage rubber...it's tedious and there are some tricks as mentioned above...

Only did it because tire loaded, nobody nearby does loaded tires, needed tractor, and...well...I'm a lifelong gearhead who enjoys challenges...

Likely true...those of us in salt belt know CaCl all too well...but loaded tire section of WSM doesn't mention tubes...in my case, likely trade, replace tire/wheel combo, or won't be here when becomes issue...as for stem failure, CaCl wasn't cause as previously had same metal-to-rubber failure on front...
