my local les schwab is also charging 3.10 per gallon for ringuard - $2.10 per gallong for calcuim but a tube runs about $50. on a 35hp tractor that weighs about 3500lbs with FEL what is the recommended amount of weight that should be added to the rear tires? i was thinking about 250-300lbs per rear tire... is it worth putting any in the front tires? i have been using the FEL without any ballast and it's pretty easy to unweight the back tires, i've found. ;-)

cheers,

Generally, you'll want to fill the rears with the valve stem at the 12:00 position so it's just over the rim. Now look into that thread above that gives tire sizes and subsequently, the # of gallons and weight for that particular tire size. That is the norm...
As far as filling the fronts, you'll find different schools of thought on that. Personally, I filled mine for better traction and stability too.

BB,
I found information on how much counterweight needed is the original sales literature for old Ford tractors. They are pretty consistant around 120% of the FEL lift capacity. For my old ford, they want 3500# of counterweight. The tractor is 3800# and the FEL 1400#. Lift capacity is 3000.
