Anybody ever build a Scarifier Blade that mounts to / over the cutting edge of a loader bucket / something that could be used to scrape an icy driveway after freezing rain storms ?

Tooth Bar would work for sure but scarifier blades have more teeth so scratch more surface per pass .

Thinking bout a scarifer blade rigged to mount like a tooth bar but backwards to be used while back dragging , any thoughts ??

I have a customer that mounted scarifier shanks on the back edge of his FEL bucket, points facing rearwards, shanks on a pivot. he could use the scarifiers in reverse and load the bucket in the conventional manner with the shanks folded up and of of the way. He's run it that way for more than 10 years and i think it's a pretty cool idea.

L3450,
I think I learned about rachet rakes on this forum. They're available at Tractor Supply.
Good luck,

I made one for my L295DT. In fact I just used it yesterday as here in interior Alaska we got a spell of warm wx that turned the driveway into snot on glass. I cut a length of angle to cover the length of the bucket edge. I then cut a whole bunch of triangular teeth. They are the width of the angle and the same height. I cut them out of 1/4 flat bar the same width as one leg of the angle. They are right triangles. These got welded on to one leg of the angle with the straight side at the edge of the angle and the angled side at the root of the angle. I put them about every 2 inches. The whole deal gets bolted to the front lip of the bucket such that the teeth pointed down with the straight side facing back. I get the best results backdragging. It works pretty well. Once a year or so I hit the ends of the teeth with some Hobart-McKay Armorwear in the wire machine and sharpen them.
