All this talk of loaders in the Kioti forum had me curious as to the real life capacity of my loader. The spec is 1020lbs at the pivot pins, rated to full height. So I grabbed a big bucket of hard pack that I've been spreading on a project.

I raised it up as far as I felt comfortable.

And proceeded with the test using a pail and bathroom scale. I'll admit it's not exactly a scientific study but, it's close enough for me.

The result?
990lbs. It sure seemed like more. I'd say it satisfies my curiosity.

You mean that you scooped out 1000 lbs of dirt into a bucket just for us? Wow.

My tractor, a Mitsubishi 1801, is a good bit smaller than yours. I've put nine 80 lb. bags of concreter mix in the FEL and transported it. Of course that comes to 720 lbs. I've had a bit more of a load in it with a full bucket of dirt, but not much more. It amazes me what it can carry now that I have a bunch of weight attached to the rear of the tractor. Beats the heck out of a wheel barrow.

I didn't weigh them all seperatly, but I picked the average sized piece and it weighed 45 lbs on a pull scale. There are 21 pieces in the bucket and they are all from the same tree (same type and density wood) and I lifted it to about full height to dump it into the dump truck. That's about 950 lbs in a bucket rated at 1074 lbs. to full height. I can't complain... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

One thing to always remember when using your bucket with full loads. Make sure you have a dead weight of some kind on the rear of your tractor. This is extremely important when going downhill with a bucket full of anything. My Cub 7275 can lift the rear wheels off the ground with a full load in the bucket bouncing on my almost flat field.
