I have a TYM T194 subcompact with a loader and mid mower. It has 12 hrs. on it. I currently have the loader removed and while mowing, noticed
the loader control valve was hot. Should it be? If it shouldn't, what would be the cause.

Low hydraulic fluid will make the remaining hydraulic fluid hot.

If the loader valve has an internal relief valve ( no idea if it does, some do) and loader controls are not in neutral, flow through the relief will heat the fluid.

Working a piece of hydraulic equipment will cause a lot of heat. Guessing you have a hydro? Since that tractor probably has an open center system, that HOT oil is circulating through the valve.

Thanks for the reply Jeff. Oil level is good. Just got it back from the dealer because they filled up to the fill cap instead of halfway up the sight glass. I had oil all over the drawbar.

Thanks Zebrafive. I don't know about the relief valve either, but the stick was in the neutral position. From what I've been reading, I'm leaning towards the relief valve if it has one. Don't there's really any place else for the the oil to flow with the loader disconnected

Thanks for the reply Industrial Toys. Will oil still circulate through the valve with the loader disconnected? If so then that would probably be it.

Not sure about the TYM but on my old Kubota B9200 there is a small valve that has to be switched when the loader is removed. The oil would have to bypass thru the relief valve otherwise if I'm not mistaken and would create heat.
A person can normally hear when pressure is going over a relief valve and would sound like when a cylinder is fully extended, for example.

But in your case, the loader valve goes with the loader. On the TYM, the loader valve stays in the tractor I believe.

It's probably an open center system. Oil flows constantly through the valve and when you operate a function, the oil is diverted through the circuit in question. Then just resumes flowing straight through.

^^^^^^^ IT is correct.

If the 3 point hitch/ mower lift is working correctly then oil is flowing through the loader valve as intended when both valve spools are centered. You do not have loader control relief valve concerns. Hydraulic systems CAN run as much as 100 degrees over ambient temps and are safe to around 200 degrees Fahrenheit.

Could it be that the 3PH linkage is out of adjustment causing the pressure to go thru the relief valve? In other words, the 3PH is all the way up but the linkage to its valve is still trying to raise it.

Thanks for all of the input. From what I can tell, it is an open center valve. Without the cylinder connections it looks exactly like the picture. At least on the outside lol.View attachment 659507
