Having them fixed at level makes for quick engagement since you don't have to do anything but raise and lower, so on good ground I think it would be much faster moving pallets around than with the loader.

Yeah, I could see that. One of the big challenges in loader forks is that raising them also changes the angle. When raising and lowering a load, you always need to adjust the curl to keep the load level (unless you have a self leveling loader).
