Loader questions and how much is too much?

I never really doubted you could lighten the steering load by adding weight to the back end. My concern was about HOW MUCH you need to carry before you start to get any significant benefit, and when does the risk outweigh the benefit. Rear traction, and keeping the back end on the ground, is of course is another thing altogether, but you can achieve that with wheel weights, filled tyres and other weights that don't put much stress on the tractor at all.

As you pointed out, so much depends on having a very good subframe. Tractors can break in half. Very interesting story about that very thing here. (And check out the rear wheel-base of this JD).

Alchemysa, i can also notice a difference when using a 1000 kg counterweight on the 5245, its just that you dont notice the odd scenario when the powersteering lacks a bit when turning the wheels when standing still.
