Does it hurt anything to leave a filled loader off the ground over night? Or 3pt implement off the ground for any length of time?

I wouldn't think that it will hurt the tractor. I would only think that it may bleed down overnight and end up in the down position anyway.

No it doesn't hurt anything to leave them raised, but all hydraulics will bleed down to some degree.Of course all tractors are different and some may hold quite well, but it is still very dangerous to leave then in a raised position.However your 3-point should have a valve under the seat (round knob w/fast-slow,lock)that controls the drop speed of the 3-point, and if turned all the way to "locked" it will, or is suposed to hold the 3-point in its current position.
General rule of thumb is you should never leave the FEL or anything hydraulic raised w/out some physical type (solid object) of blocking or brace in place to hold the FEL in an upright position.
One thing to remember, is that anything held up by hydraulic pressure will fall, should there be a sudden loss of pressure, i.e. a burst hydraulic line.
I know there are guys out there that will tell you "Its fine I do it all the time" but you have to ask yourself is it worth the risk to you or anyone else if the FEL is to drop.

There is a safety issue that is different from a "hurt the equipment" issue. Leaving a loader six inches off the ground overnight is not going to hurt the equipment. If you have small kids running around playing with the tractor then of course it is a bad idea to leave any potential energy in the system. Same goes for 3pt.

So tinman, why do you ask anyways ? Is there a reason you need, or have to leave the loader or 3-point raised ? Or did you just forget and now are wondering if anything could be damaged ?

Not a saftey issue for me as no one is around the equipment but I do understand the concern. As far as why, I have a outdoor boiler and sometimes I will have ashes or coal in the bucket over night and have it off the ground a few feet or my box blade in the rear off the ground over night because I forgot, not a everyday occurence. I just hate having all that weight on the tractor and hydraulics. But I wasnt sure if there was a deff no no on a mechanical part that would fail, if I did so I asked. Thanks for all the replys.
