Plastic hoods (like mine) don't ding....

i most certainly ask to much of my loader. i sometimes feel like it don't have enough power, but you know what ? it probably has just enough power for that size tractor, anything more would be dangerous to the operator and the machine.

I purchased my 17LA to accommodate my TC-40D equipped with SuperSteer. I wanted a tractor and loader with the guts to handle heavy loaded pallets and one with reach and capability to load and unload semi trucks which I do quite often. (see attachment)

To this point I have been very pleased with the 17LA loader whether it be coupled to my 72 inch HD bucket or pallet forks it has performed flawlessly for me. I also like the fact that it is very easy to mount or dismount on the tractor without the use of any tools as I do remove it frequently for other chore duties

We have all seen more than a couple of unhappy loader owners, but I can't help but wonder if some of the problem might be associated with technique rather than merely equipment. When pushing into a heavy pile there is always a bit more involved than just trying to lift the bucket. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I know I expected more from my loader but I have a skidsteer that is an overachiever. Shvl73 I totally agree with you my 2810hst and 108 loader is under powered, I know it strong enough to handle more and maybe when the warranty is over I will tweek up the relief circut. I was planning to sell the skid when I bought the tractor but now I am not. Realistically when it comes to digging and moving material with a bucket quickly and safely they do not compare, it just doesn't like the forest with it's soft soils which is the main reason I got the tractor in the first place. glenn.

My 17LA loader has worked great too.. it has been pushed to the max.. I just replaced my 3rd rubber hydrolic line.. they are the short "1 foot" ones that operate the bucket pivot. I've spread over 180 tons of rock & gravel w/ it on the driveway and farm road. Besides the toothbar.. I also have a bucket spear for round bales.

"I just replaced my 3rd rubber hydrolic line.."

I have come to the conclusion that hoses that come on todays equipment are pretty much junk. My old tractor has 2 wire hoses on it that some are 20 or more years old and stiff as a board, but none have ruptured since I had it, and only 2 appear not to be origional. My loader runs about 2400-2500 psi. And I regularly lift over a ton with it, and do aggressive digging in heavy clay and slate rock.

This conclusion is based on observations of friends equipment and many post on a variety of boards for a couple of years. I believe I will only buy made in USA Gates hoses for my tractor. I need to replace them because after 20 or so years most of the swivels are dribbling. Import hoses suck. Sure I can buy about 4 import hoses vs buying a good hose , but is my safety and the downtime worth the price cut ?

Just my opinion.

Hmmm, I think I remember that Jinman had the very same problem with his 16LA loader. Maybe he'll see this post and chime in here if I'm wrong. I'm now thinking that it might be cheap insurance to get a few spare hydraulic hoses if I'm using my loader for a lot of pallet work. Downtime at an inappropriate time could cost me a lot of back-breaking manual labor unloading a semi the old fashioned way. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Thats a few more pallets than the 14 or 15 I had. The quick attach
really is handy.

"get a few spare hydraulic hoses "

Lately.. since my weekends are so busy.. I call the NH dealership from work and have them ship the parts UPS to me. Even though I only needed one.. both times I've ordered two.. when I blew the second line.. my down time was only 10 minutes or so.. no excuses to get right back to work.

Hydraulic hoses should not blow on a routine basis......
