Look dude.. if you don't like the idea.. don't use it... it's obvious you don't like it.

No, I just don't understand the logic. With race cars and the critical issues they face with tires perhaps it makes sense. My question was why anyone would want it in a tractor?

And you keep getting opinion based answers.. then disagree with thm.

When you ask for an opinion.. that's what you are gonna get..

I get free Propylene glycol quite often through my HVAC job. Would this be good to use? I was thinking mixed deionized water to -10F or lower & then the tire filled with dry nitrogen gas instead of regular air.
What do you guys think?
ive been reading this post and it seems some folks just missread this post. this guy
is a hvac service tech and all this stuff is
available to him free no cost.

right.. that takes care of the 'why' use it, vs cost.. etc.. Some people are refusing to acknowledge the 'free' issue.. even if the benefits fall into the 'novelty' range...

I'm done. Going to look for more photos of the gov's girlfriend (he has better taste than Clinton did).

Spitzer spent more dough than Clinton did on his rent-a-dates.

Fair enough. My points are off target for the original poster but I believe valid otherwise. He may get this stuff for free but there is no other particular logic I find in using things like deionized water, nitrogen gas or propylene glycol in tractor tires. It is a free country I'm just pointing out the lack of demonstrated benefit to these more expensive options.

Don't feel bad, IT. I'm still trying to get my mind around the de-ionized water thing myself and am glad you questioned it. I've been using distilled water (mixed with anti-freeze naturally) in the radiators of my engines thinking I was doing them a favor. That, plus the well water around here ranges from loaded with calcium to downright nasty and I've seen several radiators ruined by it.

FREE propylene glycol sounds like a great idea to me. Propylene glycol is used as winterizing antifreeze in the potable water systems in boats and RVs. It's not poisonous! These water systems contain metal and rubber parts. I've never heard of a corrosion problem due to PPG. Since you are filling the tire, there is very little room left for Nitrogen or air (which someone previously noted is 79% Nitrogen anyway) In the race cars, also previously mentioned, the Nitrogen is used primarily to eliminate water in the tire. Since you are filling the tire with water, obviously that's not gonna happen...so I see little advantage. IMO, use the free PPG in pretty much any concentration, mixed with plain old water from the nearest tap, pond, mudhole or whatever, and top it off with regular air.

Now that is a plan I can agree with!:D Might want to check on the exact concentration of PPG recommended but if it's free no worries.

Free pro/glycol is just a good idea.. IE..less toxic effects on animals. Plenty of logic in that.. If you don't agree.. post why you think you should use the poisonus kind vs the free non poisonus kind he is getting?????

I never commented ont he de-ionized water..

the nitrogen charge.. that's a take or leave.. if it's free.. might as well take.
