Why would one not want to just leave the loadmatch switch on all the time? Is there a downside to having loadmatch on? Less power?

I am having a difficult time coming up with a good scenario when you would be better off with Load Match off. The only possibility that I can think of is when you are using cruise control and absolutely want to maintain the set speed, perhaps when pulling a sprayer. Load Match will overide cruise control when turned on causing the tractor to slow when it becomes loaded.

It is interesting to note that the 110 TLB has full time Load Match with no way to disable it, so I guess John Deere feels that there is little or no need to turn it off.

Howdy! On the 110 TLB, it was produced partially with rental fleets in mind, and allthough it has lots of switches and controls, I think this is one extra switch taken out of the equation. K.I.S.S. Load match rocks though, and so does that 110 TLB!!! I'm a gonna get me one!!! ( It's just a matter of time!)

Yes, If I am just revving the tractor to maybe 1200-1500 RPM, I'll turn it off to just "idle" around.

Without the switch you could never turn it odd. As it is you will leave it on most of the time. Then once you will bump it off and stall the engine. Then you really realize what other brands don't offer...

On my 4310, loadmatch reduces the ground speed, even if there is no particular load on the tractor. I leave mine turned off unless I am doing loader work or heavy pulling.

For the earlier 4000 series, Loadmatch was essential to prevent stalling. When I had my 4310 tractor, I used Loadmatch A LOT, even during transport. Now with my new tractor I find I hardly ever use it. I believe Loadmatch was, and is, the best invention recently to improve productivity on tractors with moderate HP that are relatively heavy and are capable of handling heavier loads. I would think one could leave it on all the time without concern. I do not know what effect it would have on economy, but I am sure it would prolong transmission life because it would tend to reduce instantaneous load and thus heat. With my former machine, I am sure that it was faster at about everything with LoadMatch on; now I would say LoadMatch makes little speed or performance difference for me.
