Just joined and first post, oh boy. Thanks in advance for any help.
I want to replace the turfs on my BX2200 with Ags and searching on-line have had no problem locating the rear 26X12.00-12 NHS but I cannot find Ag tires for the front which are 18x8.50-8 NHS but I can find 18X9.50-8. Will the 9.50 size work? I am searching these sizes only because those are the sizes on there now and assume they are correct. I understand the 26 and the 18 but what do the second and third numbers and NHS mean? Any advice on sizing, burying and or dealers would be appreciated.

Those sizes sound more like R4 industrial tires rather then A1 ag tires. But to answer your question the first number is the diameter of the tire, the second number is the width of the tread and the last number, is the diameter of the rim. Putting a wider tire on 9.5 instead of 8.5 may cause interference with your tractor when turning sharply. I would check with your Kubota dealer to see what he would recommend. I don't believe ag tires where an option on a BX200. It think there was just turfs or industrials, but I may be wrong. Usually when switching to ag tires, it is also necessary to change out your rims since ag tires are not as wide as turf or industrials.

Hi BX2200Ken,

Are you going to ditch the turf tires? Where are you located?

I've been looking for turfs (w/ wheels preferably), and if you're close enough I may be able to help you offset the cost of your ags.

Welcome to TBN! The depth and amount of information on this site is incredible! Don't forget the single most important aspect of posting: Include a photo!

My owner's manual lists both "bar" and turf tires and they are both the same size. I've seen the bar tires, they are not a typical ag tire, they look like the turf casing with ag tread. I, like you, have not had any luck finding the 18x8.50-8 bar fronts. Rumor has it that the best prices are at a dealer through whole goods (not parts). I don't know if the 18x9.5-8 tires will work. It looks like there is probably enough room, but things get pretty tight with a MMM so they might rub the mower deck. If you have a loader, make sure that you get a heavy enough tire.

The NHS stands for "Not for Highway Service". It just means that the tires are not necessarily DOT certified and not intended for high speed use.

Thanks for that...I was wondering if local tire stores carried tractor tires, but I now know to check with them first.

I recently had a tire issue and when I checked around, the best price was from my dealer and he could get the tire and rim combination cheaper than the tire alone. It had something to do with the suppliers who provided them. He saved me any further problems when he gave me a like new tire and rim off of a trade in that had two sets.

I had bar tires on my BX2200 and really liked them. They were just like the tires on my work tractors, but the lugs were just not as deep and they worked well in all types of terrain.

If anyone is interested I have an ag tread front tire and rim brand new never used for the bx 23 they are directional tread tires and this one is for the driver side front kubota part # k2561-18410 they are showing price of 186.05 plus shipping , not to make a classified offer on this forum ,but I am open to offers..

My assumption is that you are trying to find AG tires to install on your original wheels, correct? My suggestion is to visit your Kubota dealer and ask for a complete set of AGs already mounted on new wheels....tell him to price it as a set when ordered with a new tractor...should be around $300, which is probably way cheaper than what tires only, plus mounting will cost you. If the dealer prices them individually, it would probably make you pass out, but it seems that you can get the whole set very reasonably, you just might have to wait until they place a tractor order.

This way, you will still have you turfs mounted on wheels, in case you would want to swap back and forth (I do).

Kubota has changed to a 10" front wheel with a slightly lower profile on the BX. You can order a set of turfs, Ags, which you want, or Industrials from your dealer or any Kubota Dealer for around $400, wheels and tires. Set of 4.

The older 8" front wheel is going to be a little harder to locate, I have a feeling. Most folks have been told they are discontinued. The actual tire diameter of the new 10" is the same as the older 8". The ratios remain in tact.

I tried to exchange my bx 23 tire and wheel for a bx 24 front tire and wheel at the dealer I bought it from and they refused to deal so they cant be too much of a shortage on them

Perhaps they only want to deal with sets? Not single's? I dunno. On a different thread, someone posted an email response from Kubota stating that the 8" wheel/tire combo had been discontinued.

Tell you what though. Bet you could ebay that baby!!

To start with, the Ag tires are quite probably an entirely different size than the turfs or R4s, and are meant to fit a narrower two piece rim, not the welded type the R4s go on.

I seriously doubt you're going to get 4 new tires and rims for $400, to me that is the price difference, expressed either as a credit or an additional cost when you specify a different tire/rim combination on a new tractor order.

Mine came with AG tires as standard equipment, the dealer told me they typically order in only R4 equipped tractors, that is their best seller. Final price was the same, they were prepared to switch to my tire of choice at no additional cost (or credit) to me.

I've never seen such a simple question draw so many answers that are pure speculation !!

No speculation here. I just ordered and installed a set of 4 wheels and R4 tires from my Kubota dealer. Yup. $400. My BX came with turfs. There are a dozen guys here who have ordered a full set BX tires and wheels from Whole Goods for that or less. I don't understand the tone of your post. Oh, and BXs don't have split rims either.

Before and after photos below.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Maybe this will clear up some of the confuston. The tire on the right is an Ag tire. Know as an A1 tire. The tire next to it is an Industrial tire. Known as a R4 or some are R1's. The Ag tire has much more agressive bars and is narrower. The R4 is a wider tire that has wider flatter ribs that are closer together. It usually has a harder side wall to with stand loader type work. Hope this helps.
