I have seen on this form somewhere that there are three drains when changing transmission fluid. One in the back by the draw bar , one under the creeper box. I can not find a third one. I have opened the two and got approximately 3 gallons of fairly clean fluid. However it does not resemble 80w-90 gear oil nor does it smell like it either. If you know whether there is a third drain I would appreciate your input . Thanks Robby

There could be as many as four. Some folks have reported two at the very rear. Then there's the one on the transfer case, and the last one is just forward of that - underneath the creeper box

Hey Robby,

The drain on the tranfer case, is on the side. If you have allready drained the transmission, then you will not get very much out the transfer case. But it is a good idea to flush with diesel fuel or kerosene, and when you do, remover the creeper and transfer case drain plugs first, to make sure that the oil passages are open. Then finish draining with the 2 drains that are underneath, in the middle, and are inline with the rear axle.

Thank you I will try to locate the drain on the transfer case tomorrow. I had planed to flush the system before the refill. Robby

Hey Robby,

Your Welcome, and don't hesitate to ask, if you still have a problem.

By the way, I also have a 224. And out of curiosity, what is the stated Engine output on your Engine Plate? Mine is 14.7kw @ 2300r/min. I'm still trying to find the other 2 horses that my 224 is supposed to have. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif They may have fallen off of the boat on the way over here to America. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif or they may be still over in China grazing in the grass somewhere. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

I hope that you like your 224 as much as I like mine.

My tractor has the exact same thing on the motor. I finished with the fluid change. There was just a little crud in the transmission . It was not as bad as some of the stories that I have seen on this form. I have the crossover (wix) filter #'s for fuel and oil if you are interested. Robby

Hey Robby,

Thanks for letting me know, about your engine specs.

It would be interesting to know, if anybody actually has a 22 hp, Jinma224.

Just make sure that you are getting oil, to come out the creeper drain plug and also the trasfer plug.

I'm sticking with the OEM, filters that came with my tractor, for as long as I can get them. I learned my lesson from crossover filters, some time ago, and for me, it is just too risky. I know that the Wix filters are good filters, but my question is, what are they doing to the oil pressure. The Wix filters will probably be fine, and maybe better. But for me, I'll let the Engine Manufacturer make the error, and not me.

How many hours do you have on your 224 now? I've got about 130 hours on mine.

It is past time for me to retorque my head bolts and then check and adjust the valve lash on mine. When the weather cools down a bit here, I plan on doing that little project on mine. I don't really look forward to it, but I know that it needs to be done.

Tell me about the heat. Heat index was 110 here yesterday it is hard to do any work outside. I was up at 2:30am this morning doing very little and broke a sweat.

I have 56 hrs on my tractor. I have finally changed all of the fluids in the tractor (highly recommend flushing with diesel upon first fluid change).

I never found a drain plug on the side of the transfer case.

I do not know if this is recommended or not but when I filled the tractor back up with 80w-90 gear I took the creeper box cover off and put most of the fluid through there and watched to make sure that the oil passed through the bearing. Robby

Facing the front of the tractor Robby, the drain is on the left side of the transfer case - that little box that is bolted to the underside of the tranny. From it, the front driveshaft housing goes forward. The creeper drain is partially obscured by that housing. Transfer case drain is Item 33 in the attachment
