Did the same thing on my old L3400 even with the loader on.

Also had a stick take out the oil filter as well. Seen the oil spewing and shut her down before lost pressure.

Now my new to me but used MX5100 came to me with a hole in the plastic from a stick.

I have a piece of perforated stainless Ive been meaning to get installed.

My DK40 doesn't have a FEL or a grill guard. The headlights on that model are very vulnerable and cost $400 plus. I've seen several used DK40's for sale that had the same busted HL's as mine.
That expanded metal fix is logical & cheap protection against branches that are always out there, if you do rough, non-field work. I sure don't see myself bush hogging my "pasture" with a FEL bucket 6" off the ground! I'd be constantly jammed into a contour or laying down a years growth before I got to it.
My DK HL's are much like the Kubota version which, thanks to higher sales? can be bought from Asia for $112. I think they can be made to retained in my HL spot where mine are fuggly from being epoxied back together.
Ground clearance has kept me from bottom brush problems.

I did the same thing to my DK40SE HST last year.

I've always been concerned about taking a hit through the radiator but so far it ain't happened, no extra protection. I know that I'm living life on the edge, but no welder (first had to get a garage; welder is on my list).

Anyone know about a hood guard? Both my B7800 and NX5510 have taken hits on their hoods! Don't ask.

Xfaxman, my B7800 took a salmon berry cane right up through the middle frame channel, a very small spot, and knocked off my hydraulic return line, catching the rubber and slipping it off the pipe. The angle had to be perfect. I'd horrify folks as to how I've operated my B7800 through the brush; but only had this and a fuel petcock break in it all.

My wife was out cutting some heavy brush the other day with our Kioti and came back to the house saying the oil light was on.

I doubted the was an oil supply issue, most likely a stick knocked the wire off the sensor. I get out there and find that a stick / tree trunk got up into the back side of the rad area and knocked all of the blades off the fan. Luckily the damage to the rad was minimal and nothing was leaking.

I've got a fan on order, a dealer that's 2 hours away had one on hand and shipped it out right away. No idea why the oil light was on, I am wondering if it's a combination oil pressure / oil temperature light as I know the engine was hot when she shut it down. Luckily I have a cab so she just used the cab heater to cool the engine done before turning it off.

Jason

Good judgement. She sounds like a keeper.

Nice job, I'm interested on the way you secured the hydraulic lines to the loader frame. Is it factory home built? I just use an elastic cord.

So I am not the only one who said, that is nice on the hose setup.

Grill is also nice but the hose retainer meant the most to me for I am using bungee cord also.
