Anyone ever used one of these? Looks like its for clearing land more than splitting wood.

It might do both. I see some logs in the background that are split.

Its splitting that piece in the picture. The wedge is on the far end of the machine, the ram is under the I-beam. This is to split logs too big to move.. do it where they are cut. It can lift and move the logs by holding them in the splitter jaw.Mike

how could it possibly be more suited to clearing land...????


it's only use is for splitting wood.


to clear land you need a dozer with root rake, or a loader with grapple.

My BIL has a homemade splitter like that on his Bobcat. He get his wood from several tree removal companies so it's mostly big stuff, 36"+ diameter. He splits the big blocks into managable pieces & sets them onto a feed table to his smaller splitter. His hired help doesn't lift much wood, just slide it onto the smaller splitter after which it falls onto a conveyor to his trucks. Wood that size is too much work to handle by hand. MikeD74T
