LOG SPLITTER FOR MY JOHN DEERE 790

Looking at the pics again, I agree I was wrong on the float by pulling the joy stick to the far right.. but maybe the 790 has the regenerative dump option as my 4300 has that option. If so, that may be causing the problem.
Hope you get it figured out, as it should work, albeit slow splitting.

I have my snow plow hooked to the FEL hyd and the bucket tilt hyd. hoses go to the blade angle cylinders. I get a "plugged" movement (stop) when angling the blade and going far right on the joy stick.. doesn't work as it is in the regenerative position. Helps dumping the bucket quicker but not angling the blade quicker.

Just looked up the label for the 790.. shows that regenerative position full push to the right.

One of the pictures I posted show the ports being numbered. The owners manual tells which # is for which. I have the hoses in the right ports. After much thought and talking to smart folks like yall I just don't see how I will get a continous flow of oil through my splitter
Not doubting but I would triple check the piping. Both the cylinder ports and the supply and return. Are you sure you have the fluid flow direction correct, the splitter valve should have a built in relief and kick off that needs to have proper direction. Maybe make a diagram of the port numbers and list the valve manufacturer.

I use the loader hydraulics on my 790 to power a Willsie hydraulic weeder. After talking to dealer, trial and error, ect, we ended up using ports 1 and 2 on the tractor. Have the lines so that the weeder receives flow when I pull the control lever over against my right leg. So far have not used more than 1 hour continuously, but has not overheated and works fine. Need about 2,000 rpm for enough flow for the weeder and to reaise the weeder with the three point hitch for turns, ect. btw...3 point hitch does not raise while the loader valve is sending flow to the weeder.

I also wondered about a regen if you move the stick to the far right. If it has a detent like the float does that is the case.
