Yeah, (IMHO) one only gets a few tries to connect the PTO before strength diminishes and frustration levels rise. If I don't get it in a couple tries, and find I need 3 or 4 arms to hold PTO shaft, while extending shaft forward, while pulling collar backwards, or holding in pin, while keeping the universal aligned, while also rotating the shaft (!); out comes a bungee cord to hang the PTO shaft from the top link. That way one can focus on the connection without having to hold the full weight.
Do all Kubota's have a PTO brake? Sometimes it's easier to turn tractor's PTO shaft than to turn the implement PTO shaft. Turning a winch shouldn't be too bad depending on how "tight" the winch's clutch is set.
Edit: Ha! Looks like Eric said same thing as I was typing. Don't just tie up hair around PTO, but, especially in winter, watch that jacket hoodie tie-strings, scarves, etc.. don't drape down. With Wallenstein winches, to release the brake you're "suppose" to pull in the cable which releases tension on the "lock dog" and gravity allows it fall away from the cogs on the drum, but it's very tempting to just reach in there and pull the lock lever away from the cogs. Not recommended if PTO is on as you're close to the spinning PTO. If you have hoodie-strings, this could go very bad.
