Long range wireless router help

/ Long range wireless router help #81
A USB727 is exactly the same modem I have.

I'm using an L-Com parabolic grid antenna (image below)
900 MHz 15 dBi Die-cast Grid Antennas
You need to know where your Verizon antenna is to use this antenna - it's directional. There are other omni-directional antennas you can use (Probably what you have now)

I mounted it outside and use the ultra low-loss coax cable from 3gstore.com
30 foot 9913-Equivalent Ultra-Low-Loss Coaxial Cable (N-male connectors) 952330 [952330] - $49.95 : 3Gstore.com

I went from about -99db to an average of -76db RSS
Just now, I got 1.26 Mb/s down and .70 Mb/s up

Here's instructions on how to lock your modem in 3G/EVDO mode
Tip Of The Week #65: Lock Your Verizon Modem to 3G/EVDO Only : EVDOinfo.com

Best of luck to you...

I work for a railroad and we routinely do long-distance wireless. Look for a good 802.11a 5.8Ghz wireless bridge - they have the best thruput and are less susceptable to interference from other wireless "stuff".
