Cool looking machine Brian! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Wish, I could have tried something with Joystick, but nothing wrong with the twin sticks. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ahhh, but there is. I have a spare hand for moving branches, waving to the neighbor's wife /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif or sipping on a beverage (there's also a cup holder built in on the left side)

Do your arms get tired at all?

I've never used it over an hour at a time, but no trouble. My mother does 6 to 10 acres [she get's a wild hair sometimes and mows places that really could be left standing]. She used to cuss about the CC GT [with power steering] making her arms sore; she doesn't complain, so I'd say its real gentle. Now some of the "homeowner" units [probably poor adjustment in travel, or overtighening pivot points] almost gave me sore arms without even starting them.

As far as the extra hand; I have no problem when I need it, but would admit that if learning a Joystick is slightly tougher than twinstick; mastering onehanded twinstick use is probably much tougher than Joystick. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The real trick is getting the cap off the bottle [I don't like drinking grass and dust!], but it's not too bad with the sticks. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Guys the thing about the ZTR is I'm not on it long enough to get thirsty!!!

But there is a drawback ,I must wear goggles when I mow to keep my eyes from tearing up and making it hard too see

Oh and also have to wear a hat too keep my hair from getting all knotted up!!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Bczoom, nice looking machine ,looks like a kawasaki powered unit: SWEET /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You have to be thirsty before you start, but, what was a 3 beverage mow on a GT is now only about 1 1/3. When I do the neighbor's lawn, I can stretch it to 3 but only since he's buying and I take an intermission.

Not the Kaw. It's the Kohler Command Pro (25hp). The guy I bought it from couldn't justify the cost to me nor himself and said I should go with the Kohler.

Ok

Can get the Scag for 6k even. No payments until Jan, 10% after that.

I can get the Kubota ZG23 with 54" deck actually at a better price and 2 years same as cash.

What do you guys think?

I know Kubota has the name, but it is a Kohler (sp) engine, and they did have some "issues" in the past.

Didn't ride the Kubota yet, but do you think I could go wrong going with the Kubota compared to the Scag?

Any input would help.

Thanks

10%! Ouch, ouch, ouch /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I won't knock the Kubota's and think even the ZG may be a "20 year machine", but in the two models you're comparing, 2 things do come out ahead for the Scag IMHO:

After seeing the industructable nature of the 7gage fab decks, Scag has that advange, and I know you just can't beat Timpkin bearings.

The Scag is using "tried and true" pumps and drives. I'm still not sure what Kub is using; it looks pretty dang heavy duty, but I'm not sure.

Not my first choice [mainly because of a couple bad lots you eluded to as well], but I wouldn't be too scared of the Kohler. I really think you need some seat time in the Kub too, maybe it will really feel right or wrong.

I don't know the timeframe you were thinking about the finances for, but 10% over 3 years will cost almost $1K. I'd glady give him the $200 back for a better plan; most likely not an option....but worth asking. By pure coincidence, Snapper was just switching plans when I bought...he didn't have the right paperwork for Snapper yet, but knew it was the same bank as Dixon, used that and it went right through [actually after a 3 hour fiasco with their database being down].

Anyway, just reading between the lines, I'm thinking Kub's financing fits your situation better. Either for resale or long term use the Scag Cub gives me more of a "warm fuzzy" ZG23, but I've never been on a Kub.

I'm babbling, but if you can get them delivered to your place on the same day, now that might speak volumes.

Good Luck! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Actually, apples on apples, I should have said 2 years [though same a cash still has an advantage if you plan the money right].....and considering 6 months free. Its closer to $500, sure not great, but that's not quite as spooky!

Spiffy

On the Scag, by the end of 6 months, I would only owe $1500, the "minimum" that they want financed.

I realize that I will nead some seat time in the Kubota to make a fair choice.

Problem is that I like the way the Scag looks (no explanation).

Just looking for someone that has had a problem with the kubota ZD series I guess.

What it boils down to is that I like the 2 years same as cash, but I want to make sure the Kubota will "hold up" as well as the scag.

The nice thing is that one of the dealers handles both Scag and Kubota. Either way, if I go with a ZTR, I could trade "up" to a tractor (or jsut keep the ZTR if I get spoiled)

Thks

Sigarms, I usually look for my equipment to be maintenance friendly ,Dollars play a part in the purchasing but ,I'm the one who has to maintain it or work on it.

And I plan on using it longer than it takes to pay for it...

I would steer away from anything with eye catching body panels that block access to any parts that might sometime need checked or replaced...

Just makes it harder to work on /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif (designers looks nice BUT , I'm not entering a SHOW with it...

I look at the mechanicals not the fluff!

Just another point of view, from the tip of my pointy head /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
