Anybody can pull a trigger. I like the stack of dimes look, takes more skill to stack them little things in a row.

My stick welds look just like that. Well maybe a little like that. OK there is metal and there is weld so it is a little like that. :D

Nice looking weld from that process. Do they use that process in applying hard surfacing? I bought some tiller tines some years back and the edges were welded with an abrasion resistant weld and it looked like it had been applied like that. From appearances like that.

I thought hard surfacing was always put on with stick arc welding but maybe someone more experienced knows differently.

It may have been stick welded it just looked that smooth with no grinding marks.

Picked up a 75/25 tank that is 125 cf. I also picked up a 2 lb roll of .023 solid wire and a roll of .34 solid wire. I am going to be off for a few days and hope to try out the MIG.

I also picked up a male 50A cord plug to fit my welder receptacle. I guess I will have to make me an adapter cable in case I have to run the MIG off of my generator away from the garage. The generator has a 4 prong 30A twist lock plug and the welder has a straight 50A plug.

That's what I did. The four prong 30A twist locks are at Home Depot but I had to get the 50A female three prong receptacle by Internet. ?Hobart if I recall correctly

Took the time to install the cord on the Arcmate 205P.

Installed a small spool of .035 flux core wire I had to see how it compared to a previous flux core only wire feed welder.

Well the only size tip sent with the welder is for .045 wire so I guess I will have to pick up some tips on Tuesday.

I will get an assortment of sizes when I find them. It was fairly simple to set up the gun and feed the wire through.

I did run some beads of stick with it though and it welded very well, smooth and I fooled with the arc force a bit. The arc force seemed to make it easier to start the arc.

I have neglected to update this thread for a while so I attempting to catch it up to speed. I ran into a problem when first attempting to mig weld from difficulty starting an arc and just happened to notice that the wire feeding the mig it power was loose near where the welding wire feeds into the liner. It took just a few minutes to snug it up.
I am in the process of patching up a 1995 Jeep YJ Wrangler and getting it ready to do some mild off roaring. I have to weld in a new floor pan on the drivers side and a new gas tank support frame cross member.
So I have practicing on some 22 gauge metal from a barrel that I cut up. The floor pan will be 18 gauge if I am not mistaken. I practiced stitch welding and here are some of the pics. I am new to mig though I have stick welded though off and on for about 30 or so years.
