I use a trailer in that condition as a scrapbin on wheels...

On my scrap hauler, the tailgate hinges ripped through the rotten plywood, so i was thinking of restoring it totally and also make the lights work: There is reason enough for the cops to pull me over, only when driving scrap on an open trailer without tarp, let alone when the tailgate hinges are gone and the lights dont work... usually i'm overweight as well, as anything above 750 kg needs brakes in Holland.

However, it would be a waste to chip off all new paint by using the refurbished trailer for scrap again, so i decided to build a new one with a new 1000kg axle, Hella lights and plywood floor and sides for all the odd jobs (i can borrow a 3 ton equipment trailer when needed) and keep the old piece of junk with the bullet proof steel floor, for scrap.
