I've pretty much decided on the Vail cutter. Supposed to get a firm quote from the dealer tomorrow.

Now that youæ±*e going to have a second attachment for your primary auxiliary circuit to run besides your thumb it would be a good idea to buy a hyd pressure test kit. I needed and bought one so I could check and change pressures when changing between my thumb which by testing set at 2750psi from factory and my limb shear which needed max available pressure, about 3150 at end of stick. Whenever i switch attachments I check and adjust to suit at the port relief valve on the auxiliary control valve. B

Just dawned on me youæ±*e thumb may very well be operating off your secondary set of remotes, lower flow set.

Yessir, the thumb is on a secondary auxiliary. The thumb was dealer installed and set up. The primary auxiliary circuit is still open, and will be set up by the dealer when the cutter comes in.

Well, I just bit the bullet. Ordered the Vail 48" brush cutter, as well as a quick coupler and compatible quick change bucket. The dealer is taking my 24" and 18" pin-on buckets back on trade, and installing the quick coupler for about $2k. The quick coupler setup will allow me to change from the bucket to the cutter in a couple minutes, and the thumb will stay in place.

Hey Bigfoot.

I'm in the same boat as you were. What tipped you to get the Vail?
I priced it out and it cam in just for the mower at around 7k and then I looked at the Rut version and it's
at 4K. Wondering why the Vail is 3K more than the Rut.

Thank for any guidance

I did not see this thread when I posted a similar one a month or so ago. I ended up getting a RUT mower for my KX121. It works well but my machine does not have the flow to cut and travel at the same time. Other than that, It makes quick work f cutting anything less than 3"

For the life of me, I can't tell the difference between the two. Besides the obvious that they are from two different companies and look different, I'm talking about they both seem to do a good job at what they are intended to do.

Yes I can see that a Mercedes is worth more than a Honda and why, but it's like paying twice as much for a shovel or wheelbarrow and they both do the same thing. Both shovels dog a hole both wheelbarrows more dirt so why pay twice as much?

I mean I could buy two Ruts for the price of one Vail.

Thanks for the input on the RUT what you said is what I've suspected. The guy at vail started telling me that he had better bearings than the others. WHAT? That's why it's 3-4K more because you have better bearings?

Hi Bigfoot, been a few months since you ordered that vail cutter and haven't heard anything from you about it, sincerely hope all is well. I'm curious how it's working out on your Tak.260 and your assessment of it? Thanks, B
