Hi,

Well, tire chains and weights for the rear might be a good idea (unless you already have AG tires on the rears..). About the tiller, sure it'll work in our fine rocky thin soil. However, you'll find yourself getting off the tractor a lot to move aside the rocks you unearth (at least that's what I've found)....

Having two tractors is double the everything... fun, maintenance, space, hours, etc.!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

unfortunately, the NE is probably the most expensive place to buy used tractors... there aren't very many around, and the ones that are are usually salted and beat....

Noah,

Get a 4wd tractor! I live in RI and you will be glad you did.
I found a 1301D Yanmar with FEL, Box Scraper, and Weight
for $3500 with approximately 800 hrs. Keep looking there are better deals out there.

So where do people with used tractors typically list them?

have you tried the WantAD? Online at: www.thewantad.com
they also have some of the local dealers advertising in there... folks like Padula's, norfolk power equipment, etc. These dealers will have used equipment, and, sometimes, very rarily, i've seen yanmars for sale at one of the larger dealers... That's where I would start...

Not to go off subject, since this is the Yanmar forum, but Northern Tool sells tractor packages pretty reasonably - I think someone on this forum said they were Chinese Jinma tractors? But, with a company the size of Northern backing them, might be worth a look?

I have a Yanmar 1602D, which I bought used and has been a great tractor, so I'm pro- Yanmar but if supplies are limited in your area, maybe that would be a better way for you to go?

And, I have a sloped, hilly property and the one thing I'm grateful that my tractor has is 4 wheel drive.......

I don't think I'd ever buy a tractor from Northern. Northern is real good at selling things, but they don't sell parts and they don't do service. You buy their tractor and you could be on your own.
