Looking at Buying a YM2420D from TractorCo, Thoughts

I remember reading in some forum back when I was looking at them about some of the problems people had with TractorCo tractors. Things like they mounted one model of a 4wd front end on another similar model, and the gear ratios didn't match, and the tractor constantly broke drivelines. Totally hodge-podged electrical systems were also fairly common. But I have also heard of people being very happy with what they got there.

Hmm, I am curious how you did that, though I would never be able to duplicate it.
Easy - after you know that a history of the internet is available to the public. Go to Wayback machine and key in a URL.

Earlier versions of that URL show on a calendar, pick one and start exploring.

Consider a donation if you find it valuable.

You don't need to know someone at NSA for access.:)

That's awsome california, I dont think I have ever seen that website, or that tour, or if u have I don't remember it. The only pic I remember is of the "owner" in front of that tractor.

Wasent he stabbed to death or stabbed someone else?

I can't beleive they squat like that to work. That looks so uncomfortable to me. I know my 3 year old does it and has for a long time I just assumed it was age or something? A lot is also body weight and how you carry it. I don't consider myself fat but overweight by chart standards and I guess that throws your balance off. And at 34 I also know that would kill my knees after 20 or 15 mins. My grandmother squared like that to work in the house or garden into her 80s though, but she was skinny then as well.

Random sidetrack and afterthought.

As I remember the story: The manager of a big VN import place in Texas went to jail for stabbing someone in a bar fight - as told by a poster who imported clean Yanmars from Japan. I don't know if that was related to these guys pictured.

I've wondered if the slender guy in the white shirt is the same Lee who ran the Northern California import/wholesale operation initially. When I didn't see him I asked if he had gone back to VN to try and improve the quality of what their factory was sending over, the answer I got was Yes.

The Wayback Machine is awesome. But its also a little scary that it means near everything is available to the public forever. For example there's a dealer in Texas now selling modern Yanmars who used some of the same photos as Tractorco back before that Yanmar lawsuit.

Ended up finally getting a hold of Chris, with Coldwater. Unfortunately it doesn't sound like they have anything that will work for me currently. (FYI, they are still mainly in the business of making FELs and some backhoes.) He has a Iseki TL 2701 he said he would sell....guess I am going to do some research on them.

Chris referred me to another dealer South of Portland SG Equipment....They don't have anything that will work for me currently.

Tomoe, has a YM2402D however for a decent price if its a good machine....however I would rather have a power shift.

I some how ended up talking to another outfit selling Tytan tractors. May go look at them on Saturday, however I am not sure what the support on those will be. I started another thread asking about them and I am not sure if I brought them up in this one too.

From what I've read Iseki is a good tractor but support is rare in the US.

Maybe post in the Iseki forum to see if the situation is better than I described. I just looked there, I see infrequent posts and it looks like many are new buyers looking for support. One reply was just get an identical parts-tractor.

Yanmars have much better support than that, more like an old VW or Jeep if you buy the right Yanmar.

And yes I think Powershift is strongly preferable. Only a rock bottom price could persuade me to go unsyncronized manual again. (Full stop for every gear change!).

That link said Tytan went bankrupt in 2013. Is anyone supporting those tractors now?

Some sort of entity is still around.

I think I will stick to Yanmar....or another good grey or, US tractor.
