Joe that should make you a pretty good old truck with just a little work, and I know you can handle the fix up. Can I borrow it?:D You know everyone of your relatives will want to! Once you get it all fixed up and roadworthy of course!

It's still the original 6V system. I want to pull an equipment trailer with it, (Less than 20 miles round trip on county roads.) so I'll need it to run a brake controller as well as the LED trailer lights. My dad (retired electronics technician and master electrician) has a few ideas how to keep most of it 6V, but run 12V where needed without having to rewire the whole truck and replace every 6V bulb, gauge and associated item.

Nice truck, you did very well for a grand. It's good to see the old equipment living on.

It's not that hard to convert to 12 V. Change the generator to an alternator, coil to 12 V, light bulbs and get a voltage reducer for the gauges.
Starter will work great on 12V !!!
When I put a small block V-8 Chevy with T-10 4 speed in my 52 Chevy (I was 17 and wanted MORE POWER!) I went with 12V system. Way back then (60's) I bought a 12V battery with a 6V center post added to it for gauges and radio.

If you want a good start on the 6volt system, buy an 8 volt battery, will give you more "zing" without rewiring anything. That second truck, it is a gem also. I would strongly suggest you offering 400 for it and bring it home and let it sit on your property. In a pinch it will be storage that can be driven (not licensing it), wet/holding bin for dryer, all kinds of options. If the cab and engine are junk, cut the cab off, remove engine and bring frame rails together and make a pin hitch and bring hoses up for a grain trailer. Would look good behind your other one!

Good job on the purchases, you did good!!!!!!!

Love that 6400. A grain truck is on my must have list although I don't have room for one at the moment.

Blueriver, any more pics of the '59?
