Well I just used it to mow my lawn. Great engine and drive system!! Kawi. engine does not even seem under load in tall grass with drive system in 3 gear going up steep hills! Gets great traction with the Tuff-Torq diff. from Kawiawni?? Never heard of the company that makes the diff but is a great rear diff!

Tuff Torq is a Yanmar product, they are nice transaxles.

Well with all these great guts I called the murray dealer on the seacoast that sold the mower new. (I found a sticker on it) The guy at the selling dealer said he sold a bunch of them in the mid-ninties it was Murry's "Ultra" offering that was not sold in box stores so he could compete with a Murray highend units, he said they were $300+ new in the mid-ninties and he sold them for 4 years. Said there should be quite a few in the New Hampshire sea coast area BECAUSE THEY SOLD WELL in this high end market?

Home Depot sold the Ultra line on the West coast have a garden tractor, hydrostatic lawn tractor with bagger and 3 of the push mowers all dark green Ultras. After a few years they went to the Scotts name and Murray made some and then Deere took over making the Scotts and then they dropped the Scotts name and went all Deere green. Only thing that goes bad is the wheels and clutch in axle so far on the push mower but it will fill the bag to the top.

Sounds like you have owned a few. Anyway to fix the clutch once it goes?

Would John Deere have the parts for a kawiani reat transaxle?

Well there are parts places that can get the Tuff Torq parts at the time it was the only three speed that I had seen being used everybody else was using the two speed. Something that was unique about the hydrostatic lawn tractor was that it was using a 14.5hp overhead valve engine that had the new head design bolted onto the briggs L head block to meet the Califronia air regulations. Also the transaxle was a Spicer where later units sold at walmart that were similar had the Peerless units installed and they did not last as long. Have had these units since 1994 and the gtarden tractor is starting to wear down but the lawn tractor still chugs away.
