I really purchased my 7710 to replace the JD2555 because I kept getting the JD stuck. It really is too big for what I want, due to trailering problems, but since most of my tractor seat time is done right here, it isn't a big deal. I do have a couple of small jobs that I trade tractor work for other types of work, so I have kept the JD to fill those until I get the "right" tractor that will do both types of work. Having the boom mower has added another demension to my being able to mow low lying areas near swamps and such.
You should have seen me when I went to mow a perculation pond with the Ford. I drove across the end of it and it went to the axles in the length of the tractor. I could just see a wrecker bill coming!! I put it in reverse, stepped on the differential lock and it started spinning all 6 wheels. Slowly it started moving, like it had found something solid and low and behold, out it came. The JD would still be sitting there with it's 2wd. I reached out with the boom mower for the rest of that pond to avoid that happening again.
If it weren't for the distance and him wanting a cabbed tractor, I would be tempted to offer my tractor to him so I could buy a 4wd tractor like the JD, maybe with a detachable loader. The prices for 45-60 hp 4wd loader tractors aren't cheap, as that is what everyone wants.
