looking for a blade

Right now I have this on the current blade. I also have offset. I get to unbolt the blade from it's attachment points, pull the blade over and then re-bolt it. A quick offset is just nicer.

So I have to some small degree, tilt and offset. I'd just like these as easier features.

Larry

It appears that you have a quality Lanpride blade that has all the features that you want. Might I suggest that all you need to do is make some mods to your existing blade to make the features easier to use. Looking at the LP blade manual...

1. you could add another tilt plate with more holes to get more tilt angle on the blade.

2. you could add a slotted channel to the top back of your blade so that instead of removing bolts and moving blade to offset all you would need to do is loosen the bolts and slide the blade over and retighten. Replace the nuts on these bolts with knobs and you could loosen and tighten without tools

JDGreenGrass,
Thanks but I will stick with my Deere rearblade:D

I use topntilt for the hitch so I can get by without the tilt function but really could use the angle cylinder. A wider blade about 8' would be nice though. I also feel the wider blade is better than offsetting as long as you have enough room to turn the blade around.

Are you telling me you are backing away from purchasing an implement.??

Wow, I wish I could do that.!!!!

Best wishes Larry.

Well, it's not like I don't have a blade. I currently own a Land Pride 60 inch blade. It does do offset, and using the turnbuckle, will do some tilt. I can get by with it, and the best part is that it costs me nothing to own.

But it sure would be nice to have a larger blade.

Thanks John.

The current blade does NO tilt. So I really can't add to what isn't there.

The current blade does do offset. There are 3 bolts on the bottom and 2 bolts at the top that hold the blade to the support carriage. Since their vertically displaced from one another, I would have to add 2 slides to accommodate a quick offset.

So much to consider. That's good thinking though, as I hadn't even thought of modding it.

Thanks.

Since you want a blade with angle, tilt & offset adjustments for under $600 you have already narrowed your choices a bit. You need to figure out what your service requirements are going to be - will the blade be used primarily for snow removal or light soil levelling, or will you be doing a lot of ditching & heavy heavy dirt work with rocks & roots?

For mostly snow plowing use and light soil moving I am very satisfied with the King Kutter Professional Rear Blade 84in., Model# PRB-84. You may find the 72 inch blade a better fit for your machine (and a few $ less 8^). Click on the "Professional Products" drop down window & select "Professional PRB Series Rear Blade":

King Kutter Incorporated

KK (or whatever TSC now calls them) makes several lines of rear blade. TSC sells four: there's the orange-red BX model, the regular yellow model, the yellow so called "professional" model and the heavy duty model. I got the professional model for clearing snow from 300' of driveway. A heavy duty or primium quality blade was just not in my budget. Part of KK's poor reputation is based on them getting a bad rap for their lighter duty blades that get used beyond their abilities. It's hard to resist compromising service life when you can save $100 by stepping down a grade. Don't do it.

Anyway, for about $500 (special order/I really did not negotiate) I got a very servicable, medium duty, 340 pound 7' blade that can rotate, tilt and offset. The blade can be set at 45 degrees and just cover my 62" track for slow windrowing. To protect the paved part of my drive, I sandwiched a strip of tire tread rubber between the cutting edge and the moldboard for a squeegee. This mod works great on grass, gravel & asphalt.

Thanks Steve. That's good to know about width verses offset.

I think you're steering me on the right track. So now I'm thinking just get a longer (6 ft) blade that does tilt and manual offset. There are a number of good blades that do the manual offset and tilt. Land Pride, Woods and BushHog all make good 6 ft blades that do this. I'm giving up on the quick offset as that just drove out to much, and as Steve points out, with a longer blade isn't that important.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the offer, but 7 ft is to big for my tractor. I'm also not considering any King Kutter products.

6 ft is my target blade size.

Larry--are you incorporating the sale of your current blade into the pricing? This might allow you to look at some of the blades mentioned above that "appear" to be out of your price range.

It's a dilemma for sure. The local Kubota dealer is willing to commission sale mine for 10%, and he thinks it would go pretty quick. The problem is though that I have several very small roads (4 wheeler trails really) that I would like to smooth out from time to time, and I'm afraid a 6 foot blade might be to big for that.

Decisions.... Decisions....
