I've got a Bobcat 225nt (older model) and love it. I've also got a couple of other welders (MIG,SMAW,TIG) and they all work pretty good. I say pretty good as I'm still learning. I've been welding off and on for the last 20 years (I do mean off and on). Just really started welding seriously for the last couple of years. Although brand of machine is extremely important the most important is the skill of the operator. A skilled operator can make a poor machine work flawlessly and an excellent machine can make a poor welder look good. Get the best welder you can afford and learn, learn, learn.

Good luck.

Shield Arc, How about a couple of coupons, both with 6011, one DC & the other AC for a little more direct comparison? MikeD74T

Mike I can't say I've ever run 6011 AC out of position! Kind of took my out of my comfort zone!

Took some 1/2-inch plate, cut 37 1/2 degree bevels on it. Ground a 3/32-inch land, and placed a 3/32-inch gap, (open root). 1/8-inch Hobart 335A 6011, AC 65-amps, vertical up hill.

Front side.

Back side.

I thought what the he!! might as well see what I can do with overhead!

Here is the DC version. Same Hobart 335A 1/8-inch 6011, same joint prep, except I ran this flat, at 60-amps.
