Looking for a track loader. What is undercarriage?

/ Looking for a track loader. What is undercarriage? #21
I was kind of, sort of friends with a guy that has all kinds of big iron. Maybe fifty pieces! Up to a 9! Knowing this guy and what happens to his equipment and the EXPENSE has probably cured me of wanting to get a dozer. Some guys want a Vett or a 57 Chev. I just want a little JD 450 but it makes little sense, and is too big a gamble. Those machines get older every day! It doesn't have the same appeal to me, but these days a tracked SS probably is more useful with all the attachments available.

I am just plain sick because I love bulldozers. I always have. I typically log with a skidder, but my wife says I only smile when I am on my bulldozer!

Our first bulldozer was a 1965 John Deere 1010, and today I have a 1988 John Deere 350D. I just put it up for sale yesterday, and while it is a good deal at $12,500, I don't expect a buyer even with 100% undercarriage (Sprockets, chains, idlers, track rollers, and even new grousers). There are good bulldozers for sale out there, but finding them is VERY difficult.

I always explained the "percent of undercarriage wear" as say, "30% of the time the tracks will stay on." That is far more accurate then what the seller will ever admit too. (LOL)
