i to have pondered this idea for years. my idea was to weld some sort of "grab" on the trailer, once i was in position i would use my hoe to pick the trailer up and scootch it into position. 90 degrees to the hoe will make digging and dumping easy. im lazy, i want a small trialer i can dump also, perhaps the hoe can do this work also? years ago on here there was a post about a guy who made a hitch for his bh, but i have neve been able to find it, i think he welded a tube to one side for a reciver to go into but that about all i can remember.
to me this would be most useful when removing the grass where you are going to dig, that way you can save the sod for another location. i have worked with my dad driving a 455 deere pulling a trailer to do this but trying to get him in the right spot every time is a PINTA!

Perhaps you could place the BH bucket where you want the trailer and let Dad back under it like the big Excavators do for dump trucks.

I think money is your biggest enemy, it seems to get in the way of all of our plans. We always should have gotten a bigger tractor or two tractors or a dozen implements. Could you build a four wheeled trailer with a front steer axle and a hydraulic dump, this would put no more weight on the back of the tractor and allow you to jackknife it and load without unhitching if possible, sounds good on paper but probably farfetched.

Don't want to say that money is not the problem The biggest is my wife and me wanting to spend money on things she says I don't need.

Heres what I would do for the cheapest way outthat I can think of. I would pull or push the trailer with the loader, not the backhoe. You can weld a 2 inch receiver on the loader. There are a lot of threads about that on the forum. Put whatever insert that works best for your trailer. I dont know if yiu have a conventional ball hitch on the trailer or a pin set up. If ball hitch you can hook the trailer with the loader mounte ball without getting off the tractor.

Alternatively, if you are willing to drive backwards, just weld a chain hook on the loader and a chain on your triler tongue. Then after filling the trailer, drive your tractor loader up to the tonge and hook the chain up put tension on it by raising your loader. Drive backwards pulling the trailer to your dump site then lift your loader to dump the material off the back.

My idea requires that you unhook the trailer when you get back to the pond site to fill it again.

You should be able to accomplish this for $5 to $20 if you have a welder.
