Looking for my first tractor

Hey everyone!

I am looking at buying my first tractor and i want to go used so i can learn how to handle it and take care of issues etc, plus trying to be a bit economical about it. So i am looking for advice or suggestions.

I have about 10k to spend if that helps and i live in the midwest/central eastern Indiana area.

Be sure to be specific about what tasks you want to do, how much property you are working and any other equipment you may have to do some...if you have a zero turn mower, you probably won't need a finish mower on your tractor.

$10k is a little light, you'll be looking at used and maybe needing some TLC. If you have mechanical skills, that could also be noteworthy.

Ditto on this. And we need to know if you'll be putzing in the garden or cutting fields or mowing lawns. $10k will buy an old tractor so you'll need mechanical skills. I'd take that money and put a down payment on a new one. The monthly payment may be easier to bare than the constant repairs on someone else's troubled tractor.
