Looking for newer "old" movies for the cabin fever season

I suppose it has already been noted that there is a series of movies called Cabin Fever, of the horror variety naturally. The Carry On movies were quite good, they are very British though so might not be to everyone's taste.

"Quigly Down Under" wasn't a bad flick either.

Q.D.U. is very watchable...Tom Selleck's acting is like John Wayne's...all the same basic character regardless...IMO...

If you've seen 'Payback' with Mel Gibson...you'll know it's a good one too...FWIW...it was a remake of an earlier version with Lee Marvin called 'Point Blank'...Point Blank (1967) - IMDb

The Tom Selleck/Jessie Stone movies are excellent! I wouldn't miss one for the world. I think I have seen maybe 3 of them and there supposedly is a new one coming out soon. I may have to break down and buy the series if they are available.

Lee Marvin won an Academy Award for his role(s) in 'Cat Ballou' Very funny (if you can tolerate jane fonda)...

He was also very good in 'Gorky Park'

I also liked "The Quiet Man", with John Wayne...it also has some "chick flick" elements; it appeals to men and women both. One of the Duke's finest... next to "The Shootist".

If you haven't seen the older version of "Where the Red Fern Grows", it's a must. I loved it; growing up in Oklahoma, I could relate. Think it was released maybe in the late 70's or early 80's, don't know for sure, but it starred Jack Ging and James Whitmore. Excellent movie, about a boy during the depression, who loved coon hunting and saved his money to buy a pair of coon hounds...but it was more than that; it was about their struggles being poor and growing up in a wild and wooly rural area of Oklahoma.

The Quiet Man, The Shootist and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence are my favorite John Wayne movies. I can watch The Quiet Man over, and over, and over, "Dum da, dum da, dum da, diddle didda; dum da, dum da, dum da, diddle didda..."

Where the Red Fern Grows. Wow, that brings back memories. The moview was from the 70s. I can't remember if I read the book but I know dang well I saw that tear jerker of a movie. :laughing:
