Get stand alone splitter, it keeps tractor free to maneuver timber/logs/rounds/splits around in wood lot....
I have a TW-3HD that I want to sell. Yes, it's a very effective unit but I'm turning 78 and disabled, it's too much for me and my wife. Unfortunately you are not very close to SW Ohio. For various reasons I have a strong preference for a 3pt log splitter, I had decided on the Timberwolf TW-3 with PTO pump. I went to order one today and was told they are no longer making them, not enough demand.
So what 3pt splitters do folks here recommend now that the TW-3 is no longer available?
The Split-Fire is off my list as I spent several weeks emailing them trying to get a straight answer out of them about a few of their features. All I got was evasive non answers so I don't want to deal with them.
Yea, if you weren't 11 hrs away, that would be tempting. Sorry to hear of your health issues and it being too much for you. I'm 70, so I am not sure how much longer I can keep splitting wood. I have a 16lb splitting maul I used for years, but I can't swing that anymore. Which is why I am looking for a powered splitter.I have a TW-3HD that I want to sell. A lot of times I regret buying a 3 point log splitter, they are really not convenient to use if you are cutting would anywhere but your own property. I find mine slow. it only splits wood horizontality. I am tempted to buy a carted log splitter, just because they are so handy to move. Remember you are adding hours to your tractor just to split wood. For various reasons I have a strong preference for a 3pt log splitter, I had decided on the Timberwolf TW-3 with PTO pump.
