Looking for recommendations for a 3-pt log splitter

I am. I know you are very happy with yours. But it seems they are so good, people don't want to give them up. The search has just begun. The wife is trying to convince me to just go to TSC and get one of their $1500 specials. I just don't like the ergonomics of them.
It all depends on how much wood you split. If you’re only splitting a couple of cords a year, a tsc special will do you fine. I have split 50 cords. - full cords - with my little TSC 25 ton. It’s just a bit slow for the amount of wood I split the limited time I have so I’m about to take delivery on an Eastonmade 9-16. It has been a bit of a weight, but it should cut my splitting time in half or more. There was definitely an ouch factor on the price, but as they say, buy once cry once. I definitely got my moneys worth out of the TSC special. I sold it for a couple hundred bucks in perfect working condition.

Rather than start a new thread, I thought I would pose my question here. I am looking for a standalone wood splitter and saw the 27 ton Troybilt at Menards the other day. Appearance is not everything, but build quality appears decent. The engine is Troybilt branded so not sure. Price is decent with the present 11% rebate still in effect.

Others in consideration is the Dewalt 28 ton from Home Depot; Oregon 25 ton (source undecided) and the 25 ton Hyper Split from Family Home and Garden that is on sale at $1199 presently. The Hyper Split does not use a Hydraulic filter but has a fast recycle time of @6 or 7 seconds.

Any thoughts/recomendations appreciated.

Every thing Troybilt I've had has used a Briggs engine. Maybe they label them as their own? Could be worth looking closer at the engine for Briggs logos.

I went and saw the Hyper Split units at Family Home and Garden today. The 25 ton units are available in red and black finishes. The red units include a Kohler SH270 engine and the black ones are equipped with a B&S CR950 engine. Both units are identical otherwise and priced at $1200 each. One issue I noted is that there is no hydraulic filter on these units. The other units I am considering are equipped with hydraulic filters. Still deciding!

PS. Per the store manager the Black Friday price will be $1100.
